6 ways AI can boost your mojo
We know you’re probably bored of hearing how AI is taking over the world, but if it’s here to stay, you may as well make the most of it, right? So let’s get practical and look at how it cannot just enhance your working life but help to motivate you, too.
Motivation, or a lack of it, is something everyone experiences on the job, but have you thought about using Generative AI to help you get your mojo back?
That brilliant piece of tech in your computer or phone is just waiting for you to feed it data and key in a prompt so that it can deliver what you need – whether that’s clarity, direction, new ideas, analysis or confidence you’re on the right track.
Because when you have those things, do you know what comes with it? Motivation to keep going, do the next task, be productive and make progress – for you and your team.
And that’s not all it does. Research mentioned in the Harvard Business Review shows that Generative AI can take a lot of the ‘toil’ out of work, and people who enjoy their jobs are 50% less likely to look for a new one, which leads to happier staff and higher retention rates.
If you’re not on the AI bandwagon yet or unsure how to use it to get unstuck and back into action, here are 6 ways to make AI your new office bestie:
- Use it as a sounding board: whether you need confirmation of a strategy, clarity on your team’s performance, or to find gaps in your operational efficiency, AI can help. Feed it real-time data, ask it what you want to know, and get the objective feedback you need to feel confident you’re on the right track.
- Make it your admin assistant: get it to automate routine tasks like booking meetings, generating reports or analysing data, so you can focus more on strategic thinking, team development, and creative problem-solving – or other parts of your role you enjoy!
- Spot your development gaps: don’t want to ask your manager or peers to point out your blind spots? Then get AI to. It can analyse leadership styles and provide tailored coaching recommendations, so you know exactly where to focus for your professional growth without the awkward conversations.
- Confident decision making: we often want to feel certainty about our strategic choices before we put them into play. AI can check your assumptions and give your thought processes a thumbs up so you can confidently put it into action with your team or colleagues.
- Co-manage your team: they say leadership can be lonely – but less so with your AI bestie! Especially when it can help you analyse team skills and suggest ways to improve collaboration, or come up with different ways to run a meeting or have a conversation to encourage engagement.
- Predict your success: want to know the likelihood of success if you take a specific course of action? You don’t have to guess at an outcome, AI can model various scenarios and help you anticipate consequences so you can mitigate risk and increase positive results.
Now, let’s talk brass tacks for a second. We are huge advocates of using AI to take over the burden of repetitive tasks so you are free to do the creative, strategic or engagement activities in your role that you enjoy the most.
But… in any conversation about how to improve motivation, you can’t ignore the human factor.
AI can do a lot, but it can’t manage your energy for you.
We’ve all got circadian rhythms and can’t be 100% motivated and productive all the time – you’re not a robot.
But you can figure out how to optimise your energy so that you are performing at your peak as much as possible.
Our 3 top tips to help with that are:
- Know your peak performance times. For me that’s always in the morning between 8 and 11am. For some of our clients, they really kick in to gear after lunch.
- Incorporate movement into your day. Whether that’s a lunchtime gym session, a stretch at your desk or a quick walk around the office or outside, that movement gets endorphins flowing and gives you energy to keep going.
- Know when to call time. If you’ve been staring at that blank screen or keep forgetting what you’re supposed to be doing, sometimes you’ve just got to down tools or do a task switch and come back to that action item when you’ve got more energy.
When you maximise this combination of AI to increase productivity and confidence, alongside optimising your own energy levels and focus, you get a power duo that naturally leads to better performance and faster results.
